A worn, complete, cast, copper-alloy, casket key dating to the Medieval period, (AD 1150-1400).
Description: The bow is circular with a sub-circular aperture; below the bow at the top of the shank there is a bi-conical collar. The shank is of flattened sub rectangular cross-section with a projecting stem-tip and a simple bit with two small raised clefts. The surface of the key has a deep green patina.
Measurements: 41mm in diameter, 4mm thick and 4.7g in weight
