An incomplete openwork strap fitting of Roman date, c.AD 120 - 200. Nicolay Type B13.
The fitting is rectangular with a D-shaped section and three irregular sub-ovate perforation to the centre. Both ends of the fitting are raised and each of the two arms flanking the perforation have two, evenly space raised transverse ridges resulting in undulating D-shape section.
The remains of four integral, circular sectioned rivets would have projected from the reverse of the mount, one at each corner.
The fitting is 21.7 mm long, 20.5 mm wide, 5.7 mm thick. It weighs 6.3 g.
