A fragment of a copper alloy Romano-British bracelet with a ring-and-dot design, probably 3rd or 4th century AD. The fragment is rectangular in cross-section and flat. Each end terminates with a break. The outer face is decorated with a curved panel of ten punched ring-and-dot motifs within a grooved border. Where the panel curves in the centre a larger punched ring-and-dot motif decorates the space at the edge within a sub-rectangular projection. A lead seal matrix dating to the Medieval period, c.13th century. It is pointed oval and flat, and now worn. The central device is a star, pattern or perhaps a flower, of eight radiating lines. Four (at the cardinal points) are simple lines but the ones in the angles are nail-like, each ending in a crossbar. Surrounding this is a worn groove. A modern imitation of an Anglo-Saxon sceat of Series E ('Porcupine' type). The imitation is a match for the 'Ashmore' replica produced by Trevor Ashmore in the 196-s-70s. It is listed in Abramson's 'Sceattas: an illustrated guide', p. 154 no. 8. On the reverse is a beaded square enclosing bars, with possible symbols around the outer edge of the coin.
