A copper alloy seal matrix of Medieval date, c. AD 1300-1450. The object is circular and flat. In the centre is an engraved human face, probably a woman, with head-dress, oval eyes with arched eyebrows, a bulbous nose and a linear mouth. The neck is narrow and a rounded collar is visible. The face is surrounded with a star consisting of two interlocking double-grooved squares. A lis extends from each of the eight corners, interrupting the legend. A complete copper-alloy, two part enamelled and gilded harness pendant of Medieval date, c. AD1250-1400.
The outer frame is an elaborate sexfoil in shape with an open centre within which a sexfoil pendant sits. Between each of the cinquefoil projections a raised collared projection sits.
The sexfoil pendant has a hexagonal central body with six trefoil shaped lobes projecting from the sides. One of these projections extends to form a suspension loop which is turned through 90° to the plane of the pendant. The suspension loop is attached to the outer frame with an axis bar. The …

Incomplete ceramic building material probably a tile of Roman date. The object is sub-rectangular in plan and rectangular in cross-section. The upper and lower faces of the object undulate slightly. The upper face is orange in colour with narrow striations running parallel across the length. Imprinted on this face are two paw prints from a small animal, possibly a cat or small dog.

A copper alloy radiate, possibly of Carausius (AD 286-93) (Reece Period 14), SALVS AVG, Salus standing right feeding snake held in arms. Mint unclear. This type is known for Carausius; it does appear to have no mintmark. This type with no mintmarks is unpublished, but three examples are known, two of which are in the British Museum. This coin has been included in Sam Moorhead's corpus for RIC.

An incomplete cast copper alloy disc brooch of Roman date, (AD43-410). The object is oval in plan and is flat. The object is decorated on its outer face with three concentric bands of degraded enamel which can only be seen on one half of the object. A small patch of surviving enamel in the outer concentric band is dark blue in colour. The undecorated reverse has a double lug of the pin hinge remaining below which is an incomplete catchplate. The pin is missing. The object has a light green corroded patina and can be dated from AD100-200.

An incomplete possible whetstone of uncertain date. The stone is lentoid in profile and circular in section constructed from fine grained sandstone with a high mica component. Each end of the object has broken away. A deep linear groove measuring 5.16mm in width runs transverse across the centre of one face, possibly caused by sharpening tools.
This form of whetstone is fairly ubiquitous throughout history. It is difficult to say that this is definitely a whetstone as natural stones could be used for this purpose without much working to make them suitable. Whetstones are known to h…

Roman silver finger-ring of Henig Type XI, the hoop slightly crushed and edges dented. The slender hoop expands to form triangular cambered shoulders, bordered by a line of dot-punching which is also used on the flat bezel to define a square panel. Within the panel are three incised letters - ToT, the central o tiny in comparison to the flanking T's which have flamboyant serifs at their foot in the form of an inverted V. A cast copper alloy dolphin brooch dating to the Roman period. The object is a hinged example. The wings are tubular and semi-circular in cross-section. Each wing is incomplete and terminates with a break. The head of the brooch rises up from the wings and tapers downwards forming the bow of the object. The bow of the object is worn with no visible decoration. The foot of the brooch is rounded and incomplete. The catchplate and the pin are missing. The object has a pitted dark brown patina and can be dated from 75-175AD.

A late medieval silver-gilt finger-ring of D-shaped section. The ring is broken at the point at which the hoop was soldered and joined, and distorted, but otherwise complete. It is decorated with a series of diagonal lines forming triangular spaces, which are filled in with rows of small circular stamped decoration. The gilding survives mainly within the impressed diagonal lines and on the inside of the hoop.
The ring dates from the 15th century.

A small rectangular strip of folded gold with one decorated surface. The edges of the strip appear to have been cut rather than broken, suggesting that the object is complete. The strip has been folded almost exactly in half (although the two ends do not meet) with the decorated side outermost. The decoration consists of 13 fine, straight, 'incised' grooves.

A cast copper alloy headstud brooch dating to the Roman period. The object is incomplete and is T-shaped with tubular wings. The wings are decorated with a diagonal groove on either side of the head and a vertical groove at each end of the wings. The head is sub-rectangular in cross-section and extends downwards from the centre of the wings. In the centre of the head is a semi-oval recess which is perforated.
