Probably a copper alloy dupondius of Antoninus Pius (AD 138-61), dating to AD 140-44 (Reece Period 7), [ROMAE AETERNAE, S C], Temple with ten columns. Mint of Rome. An incomplete copper alloy bow brooch of the Wirral type dating to the Roman period. The object is a hinged example. The head is stepped but damaged and the headloop is missing.
The upper bow is decorated with three raised vertical panels which contain cells. Each cell is empty or contains patches of enamel. Each cell would have been filled with alternating colours of bright enamel forming a chequerboard pattern.
Below the panels is a raised rounded knop. The bow tapers below the knop and terminates with an ancient break. On the rear of the brooch only the top of the pin remains…

An incomplete copper alloy bow brooch of the Wirral type dating to the Roman period. The object is a hinged example. The head is stepped as is typical of this type above which is a headloop. A band of incised vertical grooves decorates two of the steps.
The upper bow is decorated with three raised vertical panels which contain cells. Each cell is empty or contains degraded dark enamel. Within the panels the surface upon which the enamel would have sat is pea green in colour. Each cell would have been filled with alternating colours of bright enamel forming a chequerboard pattern.

A carved stone head, often loosely referred to as a 'Celtic' head. 'Celtic' heads are found in some numbers in Britain, the great majority of which, including this one, are un-dateable. The head is carved from sandstone. The object has been identified from the attached photographs.
The head has an elongated oval flat face with recessed lentoid eyes. The nose is long flattened, expanding in width towards the nostrils resulting in a sub-triangular form. The lips are worn. An incomplete lead alloy plumbob dating to the Medieval period. The weight is oval in plan and cross-section with a central decorated panel on each face. The decorated panel on each face sits within an oval depression with the decoration on one face consisting of a zig-zag ridge running the length of the panel with three pellets between each turn of the ridge. The opposite face of the object is decorated with an scroll pattern.
