A copper alloy late Iron Age or Roman penannular broch dating to the first century BC or AD. The frame is circular in cross-section. The terminal ends are spirally coiled outwards from the frame and on the same plane, turning three times. The pin survives and is mobile. It is a strip of copper alloy bent around the frame tapering to a point and intended to rest between the terminals. The pin is circular in cross-section. An incomplete Roman copper alloy Colchester derivative, Polden Hill brooch, see Mackreth 2011, Chapter 3, Part 3, CD PH 4. a-b. The head of the brooch arched curving downwards and tapering towards the rounded foot. The wings of the brooch are tubular and capped at each end. An incomplete copper alloy bow brooch of the Wirral type dating to the Roman period. The object is a hinged example. The head is stepped but damaged and the headloop is missing. The upper bow is decorated with three raised vertical panels which contain cells. Each cell is empty or contains patches of enamel. Each cell would have been filled with alternating colours of bright enamel forming a chequerboard pattern. Below the panels is a raised rounded knop.
