A cast lead alloy spherical weight or spindle whorl of uncertain date. The object is sub-spherical with flattened ends where the large central perforation truncates the ball. The internal walls of the perforation are straight. The internal diameter of the perforation is 7.14mm. Other weights of this shape have been suggested to be net or line weights from fishing. Modern line weights are similar but tend to have a smaller perforation. The well developed patina suggests that the weight has some age, but it is not possible to suggest the period.
