An iron object of uncertain date and function. The object is in the form of a curved blade similar to a miniature axe. At one end it tapers to form an oval pierced socket which measures 8mm in width. The object is undecorated and corroded.
A similar example which can be found on the database is PUBLIC-6B036C.

A fragment comprising the neck and heel of a medieval iron rowel spur. The neck, which bifurcates to take the missing rowel, measures 7mm across at the break. Each arm is complete with a single-loop rounded terminal, one of which is in filled with corrosion. The spur is heavily corroded.

A fragment comprising the neck and heel of a post-medieval iron rowel spur. The neck, which bifurcates to take the missing rowel terminates with an ancient break. One arm is incomplete terminating with an ancient break while the other arm terminates with an integral figure of eight terminal, one loop of which is incomplete. The arms are D-shaped in cross-section and undecorated. Each face of the object has been silvered or tinned.

A complete iron Shot/Cannonball of probable Post-Medieval date (AD 1600-1700). The object is sub-spherical in shape slightly flattened on two opposite faces. The surface is heavily pitted and corroded with much of the adhering iron corrosion having been removed following its discovery.
The size is small either suggesting it was used as grape shot or that it was for a small hand-held cannon (possibly a rabinet (1inch bore). A similar example which can be found on the PAS database is NARC-49A3CE.

One half of a pair of possible shears or knife of uncertain date. The object is iron with a slightly curved blade and a rectangular-sectioned tang. The tang is in line with the upper edge of the object. The cutting edge measures 6.29mm thick while the tang is 3.44mm thick and 7.00mm wide. The object is heavily encrusted with iron corrosion obscuring any detail and therefore cannot be dated with certainty.

This object was found as part of Treasure Case 2012 T406, consisting of 101 Roman silver coins of the denomination known as a denarius (plural denarii ) and 2 copper alloy coins of the denomination known as a sestertius (plural sestertii). The earliest coin in the group is a legionary denarius of Mark Antony (issued c. 32BC-31BC) and the latest a denarius of Commodus dated to AD 190-191. Three iron and one copper alloy nails found in close proximity. The nails have a rectangular sectioned shank and a wedge shaped point. The head is sub-rectangular and flat.
Nails are difficult to date and in this case the condition of the nails indicates a probable post-medieval to modern in date. The iron nails are covered with iron corrosion and are reddish brown in colour. The copper alloy nail has a mid-green patina.

Three fragments of iron metal working waste. The objects are sub-oval in plan and are dark brown in colour. Each piece is pitted but not corroded. Found within the same area the pieces indicate possible metal working. The date is unknown.

An incomplete linch pin of late Iron Age to early Roman date, c. 100BC-AD100. The object consists of a circular sectioned iron shank, surmounted at one end by an incomplete copper alloy terminal. The terminal which measures 30.01mm in length terminates with a break. The terminal flairs outwards with a 'flared skirt' where it joins the iron shaft above this is a circumferential collar. The opposite end of the shaft is incomplete.

Cast iron knife dating from the Roman to Medieval period, (45-1500AD). The knife is tanged and has a maximum surviving length of 165mm. The tang is of rectangular section and is 7.34mm wide. The back of the knife continues the line of the tang towards the tip. The blade curves upwards towards the tip. Knives such as this were used from the Roman through to the Medieval period and are therefore difficult to date. The object is very corroded and has a rough orange-brown patina.

An iron whittle tanged knife of Roman to Medieval date. The blade measures 93.02mm in length and the tang 13.17mm in length. The tang is incomplete. Each edge is slightly curved with the cutting edge measuring 1.28mm thick and the opposite edge measuring 2.07mm. The knife terminates with a rounded point. The surfaces of the object are uneven due to corrosion. It is mid-brown in colour.
The form is of Manning's Roman Type 16, which he says is a long-live type. The form would also be quite acceptable in the Early Medieval period (Drinkall type A) and there are good parallels in Cowgi…

A copper alloy and iron handle probably from a knife of medieval or post-medieval date. The core of the object is iron with an oval cross section measuring 16mm in width and 16mm thick. Surmounting the top of the iron is a worn moulded figure. The figure is holding something small, possibly a baby or a lamb and has its head resting on the top of the baby/animal's head.

Incomplete cast iron key probably dating to the Post-Medieval period, (1500-1700). The object consists of a sub-square bit which is at a right angle to the shank. The bit has been divided into two wards with a lozenge shaped cleft in the centre. The bow has broken off with only a small fragment attached to the shank remaining. It has a dark blackish patina and shows signs of corrosion.
