An incomplete copper alloy S-shaped 'snake belt' fastener, dating to the Post-Medieval period, (c. AD 1575 -c.1800). This fastener is in the form of a curved snake forming two hooks. The fastener is decorated on one face with an animal head terminal at one end and with worn moulded scale-like decoration. The snake has raised and rounded pellets representing the eyes. The object expands in width from the head before narrowing as it curves into the tail where it terminates. Within the curve of the 'neck' is a large lump of corroded metal which was probably once an attachment loop/ring. …

The object consists of a silver lozenge shaped reverse plate with a raised and separate quatrefoil riveted to the back plate by a large domed bossed rivet in the centre. One half of a copper alloy double looped buckle of post-medieval date. Only one loop of the buckle remains. The buckle frame has a pointed end and rounded knops at each corner of the remaining loop. Rounded knops decorate the frame either end of the strap bar. The buckle frame is decorated with moulded hearts and scroll decoration. The underside of the mount has two oval sectioned inward facing integral studs or lugs. These studs would pass through the strap leather and hold the fitting in place. A silvered copper alloy tombac button of post-medieval date. The object is circular in plan and is domed. The back of the button and the loop is missing revealing the copper alloy concave rear. The buckle is decorated with an engraved seven pointed star with a central boss. Between each point of the star are 6 grooves. Dimensions: 15mm in diameter, 5.5mm thick, 1.7g. Similar examples can be found in Bailey, (2004) p 54 which have been dated to the 18th century.

A copper alloy strap fitting of probable post-medieval date, c. AD 1600-1700. The object is sub-triangular in plan and is curved in profile with a forward facing hook. Above the hook on the face of the object is a corroded rivet. Above the rivet two vertical grooves decorate the outer face of the object. The object is incomplete and has a dark brownish black patina. Dimensions: 30mm in length, 14mm in width, 6mm thick, (from rear to front of hook), 1mm thick (plate), 2.9g. Hooked objects of a similar form include sword belt mounts such as LVPL-CBD0A8 and DOR-5815DC.
