An incomplete lead alloy object of uncertain function. The object is semi-circular in plan and is flat. On one face two circumferential ridges border the object. The opposite face is rough and pitted with two conjoined large circular depressions which measure 14mm in diameter. Due to its undiagnostic nature it cannot be dated closely however the condition of the lead suggests a Medieval to Post-Medieval date is likely. The object may have functioned as a palm guard however these tend to be D-shaped in cross-section allowing them to sit comfortably in the hand. Palm guards were f…

A copper alloy object of uncertain date and function. The object consists of a central solid rod with striations on its outer surface. Wrapped around the central rod is an indistinct rounded piece of copper alloy which may be zoomorphic in nature or perhaps in the form of hands clasping the rod. Examined from one angle the clasping copper alloy appears to be a pig, and a frog from another angle while from the front of the object it appears to be clasped hands. The uncertainty of the decoration and incomplete nature of the object makes it difficult to identify correctly and date. Th…

Cast copper alloy object of uncertain date or function. The object is sub-rectangular in plan. One end has a circular sectioned socket for attachment. The rim of the socket is of uneven thickness and the base of the socket has broken away. The edges are uneven suggesting that it was origionally longer. The object then tapers downwards and becomes sub-rectangular in cross-section. The upper part of the object is dome-shaped and smooth while the lower face is irregular with three transverse grooves where it flattens out. At either side of the object is a rounded projecting lug, both of …
