A lead alloy cast musket ball of post-medieval date (c.1600-1800). It has a light brown patina and some straitions on the surface, likely caused by animals chewing it post depositionally (Harding, 2012). The weight was suggest it was used in a carbine (Harding, 2012)., and it's condition makes it likely that it was never fired. Some parts of the casting seem are still visible. Similar shot have been dated to the later post medieval period however the date range should extend into the early modern period as similar projectiles were used in firearms throughout this period. The contex…

Cast lead alloy musket ball from the Post-Medieval period. The ball is largely intact with a light grey patina and numerous scratches and markings on the surface, likely caused by being chewed or trampled by animals after deposition (Harding, 2012).
