A cast copper alloy seal matrix dating from the Post-Medieval to Modern period. The object is cast in one piece, is conical and octagonally facetted. At the top of the object is a hexagonal suspension loop with a perforation which measures 3mm in diameter. Each edge of the loop is decorated with a fleur-de-lis surrounded by gilding. The face of the seal carries a design of cross-hatching in the form of projecting lozenges. Each face of the stem is decorated with foliate decoration and gilding. The central motif appears to depict a tree or branch consisting of a central incised vertical rib or stem from which three branches project from each side. A lead alloy seal matrix of medieval date. The object is circular in plan and flat with an integral sub-rectangular loop or handle which is pierced. The front of the object has a central design of a long cross with a single pellet in each quarter and a pellet in the centre. Surrounding this the legend may read (S'CASOVW) however it is very shallow, difficult to decipher and possibly blundered. The object has a light brown patina and is in fair condition. Dimensions: 25mm in diameter, 10mm thick, 21.3g. A similar example which can be found on the database is SUSS-1845E4.

An incomplete copper alloy seal matrix of medieval date. The object has a circular die and a faceted upper face. The hexagonal handle is missing. The die itself is decorated with an anonymous personal seal devise depicting a hare holding and blowing a hunting horn while seated on the back of a left standing hound. A circumferential legend is present which, when printed, reads (SOHOV) [ ....]. Dimensions: 17.5mm in diameter, 15mm in height, 5.4g 'Sohov' is a French hunting cry.

Treasure Case: 2017 T65 A fragment of a silver handle of post-medieval date, possibly from a seal matrix. The handle has is in the form of an openwork trefoil with a projecting rounded knop at the top. Oval lobes decorate the object above and below the lower openwork ovals, one on each side.
