Cast copper alloy fitting probably dating to the Medieval period, (43-1500). The object consists of two plates of sheet metal which are riveted together by four rivets. The object is rectangular in plan and rectangular in cross-section. The larger plate has been bent outwards in the centre creating a sub-circular opening in the object. The smaller plate is regular and flat. The four rivets are intact and are hexagonal in cross-section. The rivets measure 4.5mm in length. Cast copper alloy decorative fitting dating from the late Medieval to Post-Medieval period. The object is circular in plan and oval in cross-section. The object has a large central circular perforation. The outer surface of the object is decorated with a series of diagonal grooves. Small grooves radiate outwards from the central perforation on each end of the object. The object shows signs of wear, particularly at one end around the perforation. Cast bronze fitting dating to the Roman period possibly used as a box fitting. The fitting is circular in both plan and cross-section. It is irregular in profile. The object consists of a domed head below which is a long collar. The base of the collar is decorated with linear incised grooves. Below the grooves projects a corroded iron shaft, this is irregular in shape due to the extent of the corrosion. The bronze of the object is in very good condition with a silky smooth dark green patina. There is a small amount of pitting at one side.
