A early-medieval contemporary copper-alloy imitation of an early penny (sceat) of Series J (type 37; Naismith Series Ja) dating to c. AD710-25. Ref: Naismith 2017: table 4, p 78; Gannon 2013: 115-6, nos 481-5. The coin is corroded and in poor condition, chipped and abraded around the edge with the design surviving in patches of thin silver wash.

There are one or two other specimens of this particular coin recorded - the only one with a known location is in the Ashmolean Museum. This coin is included in Sam Moorhead's corpus for RIC.
