A silver voided short cross penny of King John, minted by Abel of London. Reverse: +ABEL ON [LVN]DE; voided short cross.
There are two pelleted curls to the bust which rules out class VIc2 ,VIc3 and VIIa the coin is anything between 5c to VIc1; however the long cross-bar of the letter E in ABEL and the pellet on the chin may point to a class VIb2 but as most of the bust and other diognostic features are not visible it is not possible for a definitive ID.
Date is 1207-c.1216.
