A silver coin of unknown ruler, probably Post-Medieval in date. The coin has been rubbed worn on each face. One face is stamped with N star M and another M stamped below at an angle. Below the stamped N is an engraved letter D facing downwards from the base of the N. The opposite face is engraved with the letters WS. The deliberate smoothing of the coin and stamps indicate it may have been reused as a love token. A silver medieval double patard of Charles the Bold double patard minted at Louvain dating to AD 1468-74. The obverse legend is +KAROLVS DEI GRA DVS BG BRAB Z LIMB; shield. Reverse: +SIT nOmEN DOmInI BENEDICTVm AM; cross fluery. Uncertain mint. An agreement under Edward IV in 1469 confirmed the Low Countries coinage of Duke Charles as legal tender in England. In the late 15th and early 16th century, double patards of Charles the Bold were a part of the English currency and feature regularly in hoards alongside English groats as well as being recovered as single finds.
