It appears to be from the Radiates main group type, sub group 8, Series D, type 2c (Abramson, 2006, 97). Obverse: unclear Reverse: Cross with pellet in each angle Weight: 1.2 grams Diameter: 18mm. A silver Saint Eadmund memorial penny, c.AD 895-910. Obverse, +OARI.VS (A inverted), in centre A. Reverse, +O_IICIS; cross pattee. Memorial coinage by Danish settlers. The inscriptions are blundered, which is typical of the later coins within the St Edmund series. On both sides the final letter is an S on its side, which is not unusual in this period.
