A medieval gold Venetian ducat of Doge Francesco Foscari (1423-57), mint: Venice (Zecca). CNI 60-74 (probably 68). Ref: CNI vol.VII (Venice/Venezia), p. 131-3. The coin is struck on an irregular flan (it is not clipped), fairly typical of this coinage. The imperfect punches used in the production of the coin are also consistent with other examples.
