The coin has a large circular perforation with an internal diameter of 3.5mm. Above the perforation a sub-triangular shaped wedge has been removed from the edge of the coin. At the angle of the removed wedge is a regular linear cut which runs down to the jaw of the Emperor. The cut and missing wedge appear to be deliberate rather than the result of plough damage.
