An incomplete copper clasp fastener of medieval date. The object consists of a single looped sub-rectangular frame with bevelled edges. The strap bars are narrowed and recessed. Attached to one strap bar is a rectangular plate formed from one sheet of copper alloy folded over the bar. The plate is decorated with lines of tiny stamped triangles. A single rivet remains attached to one face of the plate. The opposite side of the plate is incomplete. The sheet rotating closure is missing. A copper alloy zoomorphic strap clasp of medieval date, circa AD 1350 - 1450. The frame is sub-trapezoidal with a narrowed strap bar and expanded front edge. The expanded edge consists of a central triangular projection with rounded tip. The top of the projection has two oval indentations possibly representing eyes. Each side of the projection is decorated with a small groove possibly representing a mouth. Below the projection are two diagonal grooves. A copper alloy folding strap clasp of Medieval date. The object has a sub-rectangular frame with a narrowed and offset strap bar. The clasp has an incomplete rotating closure. It has a light green patina which is corroded in places. Similar examples can be found in Whitehead, (2003), p40-41 and have been dated to AD 1300-1500. Dimensions: 12mm in length, 15mm in width, 3.5mm thick, 1.2g.

A complete Medieval (1300-1400) copper alloy strap clasp frame with anthropomorphic decoration, in the form of a face. The clasp frame is sub-rectangular in plan and 'U' shaped in cross-section with upturned sides. The bar is narrowed for the (missing) plate while the outside edge is elaborately decorated with an integrally cast head. The U-shaped face stands proud of the edge with clearly incised pointed-oval eyes, a large nose and an open horizontal mouth. The head displays detailed grooved hair which falls to the 'shoulders'. Cast copper alloy swivel panel element from a Medieval clasp. The object is sub-rectangular in plan with a circular terminal. The terminal has a central rivet hole which would have allowed it to swivel. The opposite end terminates with a break. The object is undecorated and has a dark green patina. Similar examples can be found in Egan and Pritchard, (1991), p121.
