A copper alloy buckle of Medieval date. The object is oval in plan with two projecting terminals at either end. Each terminal curves upwards towards the buckle frame, terminating with a zoomorphic head. The terminals form the head of an animal, possibly a snake and has a ridged brow, raised pellet eyes to each side of the top of the head and rounded snout. On the rear of the object on opposite sides of the oval frame are two notches, set at right-angles to projections. These notches would have supported a strap bar. File marks, and gilding are visible on each face of the object. …

A copper alloy double looped buckle, with an integral cast suspension loop, of post-medieval date (1500 -1630). The frame of the buckle is oval in plan and D shaped in cross section. A central integral cast bar divides the buckle frame into two even loops. This bar is rectangular in plan and sub-oval in cross section. On the lower edge is an incomplete centrally positioned integral cast suspension loop. This loop is set at 90 degrees to the plane of the buckle. A copper alloy trapezoidal shoe or knee double looped buckle of post medieval date c.1660-1720. The frame is drilled for a separate spindle. The spindle and pin are missing. The object has moulded bifid sides with a moulded bifid knop around the spindle. Each end of the frame has a moulded pin rest flanked by two lobed knops. The remains of iron staining are visible on one end of the buckle frame. The rear of the object is flat and undecorated. A copper alloy double looped buckle of post-medieval date. The object is trapezoidal in plan with moulded decoration on the loops. Each end of the buckle frame is pointed with an oval knop at each corner. A rounded knop decorates each end of the strap bar. The pin is missing. Each end of the buckle frame is notched for the pin to rest. The surface of the buckle has been silvered. A copper alloy incomplete double looped buckle of post-medieval date. The buckle is asymmetrical with a drilled frame for a separate spindle which is missing. The pin is also missing. An incomplete cast copper alloy buckle dating to the Post-Medieval period. The object is a double looped sub-rectangular buckle with a narrowed strap bar. At either end of the strap bar is a moulded flower. The buckle frame is decorated with worn rope work moulding. The rear of the object is flat. The buckle has been coated in a white metal, probably tin. Examples of similar buckles can be found on p78-79, Whitehead, (2003).

Each edge of the outer frame is lobed with a recess in the centre which probably held a copper alloy sheet roller. The object has a dark green patina and is in good condition. The pin is missing. A similar example can be found in Whitehead, (2003), p22, no.98. It can be dated from c. AD1250-1400.

Just below the loop the buckle thickens slightly and is decorated with three transverse grooves before tapering down to where it terminates.
