Silver pendant, ovoid, with a circular attachment loop at the top. The reverse has five circular perforations arranged in the form of a cross. The pendant is set with an orange carnelian intaglio; it depicts a fallen soldier wearing a gladiatorial helmet, facing to the right; he holds a shield towards a large feline, probably a panther, which is rearing up at him. A silver Roman mount. Treasure case: 2016 T35 Silver horse-harness pendant, originally probably teardrop-shaped by now broken through the middle so missing its terminal. The pendant is composed of sheet silver that narrows to a strip of metal to form the hoop, folded over the back and riveted. Although the circular rivet survives, the hoop itself is broken through and missing. The surviving pendant is decorated with lines of punched dots that radiate out from the rivet and a central straight line. In addition there are triangles of punched dots on each shoulder. A Roman coin hoard consisting of 5 silver denarii deposited within a lead cone shaped container with a lead disc stopper. Treasure case 2014 T966. A cast lead alloy container is conical with a sub-circular cross-section. The mouth of the container measures 45.18mm in length and 40.15mm in width externally. Internally the mouth measures 26.53mm in length and 26.55 in width. The mouth has a wide uneven rim or lip which appears to have been formed by the lead alloy of the mouth being folded or pushed back on its self. The rim measures 9.67mm in width at its widest part. A hoard consisting of 101 Roman silver coins of the denomination known as a denarius (plural denarii ) and 2 copper alloy coins of the denomination known as a sestertius (plural sestertii). The earliest coin in the group is a legionary denarius of Mark Antony (issued c. 32BC-31BC) and the latest a denarius of Commodus dated to AD 190-191. Roman silver finger-ring of Henig Type XI, the hoop slightly crushed and edges dented. The slender hoop expands to form triangular cambered shoulders, bordered by a line of dot-punching which is also used on the flat bezel to define a square panel. Within the panel are three incised letters - ToT, the central o tiny in comparison to the flanking T's which have flamboyant serifs at their foot in the form of an inverted V. A silver ring of Henig type X. D-shaped profile with a wide flattened bezel which tapers gently to a D-sectioned band. The ring is set with an oval translucent orange stone (unengraved), probably a carnelian. Good condition with minimal signs of wear and a patchy dark grey patina. Oval profile with a wide expanded bezel tapering smoothly at the shoulders to a narrow band, D-shaped in section. Patches of copper alloy corrosion product visible on the surface (before cleaning).
