A silver cufflink element dating to the Post-Medieval period. The object is circular in plan and is decorated with crown above two hearts in low relief reserved on a stippled field. The rear of the object is concave and the loop missing.
The object is a well-known type. Similar examples which have been recorded on the PAS database and as Treasure include NMS-3C11C7 2012T798, LVPL-AC3AA1 2013T23 and LVPL-499C58. The crowned hearts may refer to the marriage of Charles II to Catherine of Braganza in 1662.

Description: One half of a pair of silver, cuff links of post-medieval date.
The cufflink element is circular in plan with a hollow underside and a near-vertical outer face with downward turned rim. The raised design on the upper surface comprises a pair of clasped hands, the wrists emerging from segmented cuffs, a crown located above the hands and a pair of hearts below. Description: Two Post-Medieval sheet silver cuff link elements.
Element 1 is circular in plan with a down-turned edge at an angle of about 45°. The rear face is concave and has the remains of a central soldered attachment loop which is incomplete. At the front a raised design is in the form of two hearts with a crown above (Lewis form 1, type A). The surface is silvery grey overall.

Post-Medieval silver cuff link. The object is circular in plan. On the front is a stamped design of a crown about two hearts. It has flanged edges with a scalloped border. On the reverse is an attachment loop, that has been soldered on.
Cufflinks such as these are commonly reported through the Treasure Act 1996. A similar example can be found from under the East Sussex (2011 T812, PAS no. SUSS-E88264).
Consequently, in terms of age and as the object contains a minimum of 10% precious metal it qualifies as Treasure under the stipulations of the Treasure Act 1996.

Cast pair of silver cufflinks dating to the Post Medieval period. They are hexiognal in plan and are decorated with a flower. They are connected to each other by a silver oval loop. The back is with shanks and original link pin apparently soldered on.
