A silver cufflink element. Treasure case:2017 T274. Description: One half of a pair of silver, cuff links of post-medieval date. The cufflink element is circular in plan with a hollow underside and a near-vertical outer face with downward turned rim. The raised design on the upper surface comprises a pair of clasped hands, the wrists emerging from segmented cuffs, a crown located above the hands and a pair of hearts below. Description: Two Post-Medieval sheet silver cuff link elements. Element 1 is circular in plan with a down-turned edge at an angle of about 45°. The rear face is concave and has the remains of a central soldered attachment loop which is incomplete. Post-Medieval silver cuff link. The object is circular in plan. On the front is a stamped design of a crown about two hearts. It has flanged edges with a scalloped border. On the reverse is an attachment loop, that has been soldered on. Cufflinks such as these are commonly reported through the Treasure Act 1996. A similar example can be found from under the East Sussex (2011 T812, PAS no. SUSS-E88264). Consequently, in terms of age and as the object contains a minimum of 10% precious metal it qualifies as Treasure under the stipulations of the Treasure Act 1996.
