An incomplete silver-gilt dress-hook . The object is lozenge shaped in plan. It consists of a cast back-plate with a large trefoil knop on each apex and a smaller version in the centre of each side. The trefoil knop from the centre of one side is missing due to a recent break. Either side of each central trefoil knop is a single rounded knop; some of these have a faceted outer face while some have been worn down. A silver Read Class B, Type 2 dress hook dating to the early Post-Medieval period. The object is cast in two pieces with a silver circular sheet and a separate hooked-section. The circular sheet is surrounded by twisted wire filigree. The object is decorated with a central cross, in the centre of which is the base of a circular rivet which attaches the hook. Within each angle of the cross is an oval silver wire cell, each of which are in filled with a white enamel or stone.
