A silver thimble probably of post-Medieval date. The object is sub-circular in plan and is domed. The thimble is covered in irregular pits which are very worn, reducing in size from the top towards the base. At the base of the object are two circumferential grooves bordering the edge. The lower edge of the object has been broken in places. There are no stamps or maker's marks visible on the object. The thimble dates to the 17th or 18th century however it is too worn to be confident of a precise date and as such falls outside of the conditions of the 1996 Treasure Act. Dimensi…

The inscribed frame of a medieval silver seal matrix, of circular form. The back of the seal is now missing, as is the centre, which would once have held a gem or intaglio, possibly Roman. The matrix is slightly bent. The seal is inscribed in Lombardic letters: +BEREN GAIUS: The seal was a personal seal, the name being an abbreviated form of the name Berengar, or Berengarius.
