An incomplete and damaged medieval silver artefact, possibly a brooch, with traces of gilding. The object is square in cross-section, with two of the rims decorated with an incised zigzag pattern. It is broken at both ends, with one terminating in a plain tip. In terms of age and as the object contains a minimum of 10% precious metal it qualifies as Treasure under the stipulations of the Treasure Act 1996. A silver Read Class B, Type 2 dress hook dating to the early Post-Medieval period. The object is cast in two pieces with a silver circular sheet and a separate hooked-section. The circular sheet is surrounded by twisted wire filigree. The object is decorated with a central cross, in the centre of which is the base of a circular rivet which attaches the hook. Within each angle of the cross is an oval silver wire cell, each of which are in filled with a white enamel or stone. A silver composite button dating to the Post-Medieval period. The object is hemispherical with a domed top which has been soldered onto a convex back-plate where there are two blow-holes. Inserted into the centre of the back plate and secured by solder is a silver strip, bent to form an attachment loop. The strip is D-shaped in cross-section. Above the attachment loop the object has been stamped with the maker's mark PP within a rectangular border. This form of button is quite common, cf. A silver medieval brooch treasure case.. A complete Medieval silver annular brooch. The frame is flat and decorated with an incised pattern forming nine zigzags, with a constriction for a pin. The pin is triangular in section with a triangular-shaped collar and a tapering length terminating in a point, where the pin is damaged. The pin is decorated with a worn zigzag pattern.
