An incomplete silver-gilt dress-hook . The object is lozenge shaped in plan. It consists of a cast back-plate with a large trefoil knop on each apex and a smaller version in the centre of each side. The trefoil knop from the centre of one side is missing due to a recent break. Either side of each central trefoil knop is a single rounded knop; some of these have a faceted outer face while some have been worn down. An incomplete cutlery handle of post-medieval to modern date. The fragment is sub-triangular in plan and oval in cross-section. The object has an iron core and an outer coating which is possibly silver measuring 1.5mm thick. At the incomplete end is a projection of the dark grey silver coating. Iron corrosion has leached through the surface at the terminal end of the handle obscuring the decoration and causing pitting in the outer surface of the object. A rectangular piece of sheet silver of unknown date and function. The object is undecorated. Nine small holes perforate the outer edge of the object possibly for attachment. The size of the perforations, 0.78mm in diameter, indicate it may have been threaded onto an item of clothing. The object does not qualify as treasure under the 1996 Treasure Act due to being undiagnostic.
