Treasure Case: 2017 T871. Description: Seven silver long cross pennies dating to the medieval period. Coins 1-3 were discovered in a cluster. Coins 4 & 5 were stuck together upon discovery close to the first cluster. Coins 6 & 7 were found separately a little further away from the main find spot. SALVS AVG reverse type depicting Salvs standing left feeding snake coiled around altar and holding vertical sceptre. Mint of Rome. Cf. RIC II, p. 371, no. 269. R. Abdy (British Museum) has examined this denarius and suggests that it is probably a contemporary plated copy.
