Treasure Case 2017 T668: A complete silver Medieval to post-Medieval stud (c.1400-c.1550).
The stud is lozenge-shaped with a trefoil knop at each corner. Moulded decoration at the front is in the form of a formal flower motif consisting of a central pellet surrounded by twelve similar but slightly smaller pellets. The twelve pellets form a lozenge and follow the outline of the edge of the stud. The rear face is flat and has a central spike which appears to have been bent into a coil.
The rear of the object is pitted and the front a shiny silver grey.

An incomplete silver rowel spur comprising of two incomplete arms and neck. The neck, which bifurcates to take the missing rowel is broken on one half, due to what appears to be a modern break. Iron corrosion is visible on the unbroken half of the neck where an iron rivet remains in-situ. This would have attached the rowel to the neck. Each arm is broken at a similar length due to a recent break. The arms are D-shaped in cross-section and undecorated.
The object has been silvered and has an adhering patch of copper alloy corrosion in one place.

The coin has been curved into a gentle S-shape indicating that it may have been reused as a 'love token'. The bust has been stamped with an oval countermark which is worn.
