Two non-joining fragments of an unidentified cast silver artefact. The fragments are rectangular and curved in form with a wedge-shaped cross-section. Both fragments are broken at each end.
The concave inner faces are plain and the convex outer faces are decorated with Trewhiddle style ornament. Fragment 1 (left side of image) shows a crouching beast inside an arched panel or arcade, its head looking backwards and biting its own tail, which laces up from beneath its body. ~~Four fragments of a silver bossed penannular brooch. The three largest fragments appear to join together and come from the brooch's terminal, while the smallest fragment is from another part of the brooch.
The surviving parts of the brooch include the remains of four (possibly five) bosses, only one retaining the boss itself. On the front of the brooch fragments, the smaller bosses are enclosed by plain incised borders, while the two larger bosses are surrounded by a ring of punches resembling a billeted border.
