Cast lead cut half token. It is semi-circular in plan. The token has a raised design of a voided long cross equal armed with one annulet in each corner on one side. The other side is blank and the casting sprue remains. Lead tokens were made locally for a number of different uses and are therefore different to date, spanning the Medieval and Post-Medieval periods, c.1250-1850 AD. It is unusual that the token is not cut along the void of the cross but to one side of it. It is 1.68mm thick, 14.34mm in diameter and weighs 1.0g. Cast lead token dating to the Post-Medieval period, (1500-1700). The object is circular in plan and 17.82mm in diameter. The upper surface is decorated with a moulded animal, possibly a dog or a lion, advancing right. The animal has a long curved tail and one foot appears to be raised to just below the mouth. The reverse of the object is flat and undecorated. The object could have been used for a wide range of functions including as a gaming piece.
