A small piece of flint of uncertain date. It is oval in plan and triangular in cross-section. The fragment has been water worn resulting in a gloss covering. This gloss makes the typical features of a struck flint very difficult to identify. The flint is a natural shape which occurs with broken fragments of flint, and it is not likely that it was decisively struck. The longest edge has been chipped. This may be due to ware while in the water or ice, however the fragment may also have been picked up and used at some stage. It has a toffee-brown patina.

This report concerns a hoard of Anglo-Saxon silver pennies found on farmland near Preston, Lancs on March 14th, 2010. The coins were discovered by Alan Reynolds, while metal detecting. The precise find-spot is recorded, but it has been agreed that this will only be identified as 'near Preston' for public purposes. The coins are all of a single type, the CRVX type of Æthelræd II, king of England (978-1016), issued in the 990s. There are three complete coins, substantial fragments of two more, and smaller fragments of a further two. The coins were found in fairly close proximity, w…

A small fragment of gold, dished and decorated on the outside of the curve, possibly broken from some kind of vessel. The decoration appears to be a plant design, of probable late medieval date. The inner side is undecorated. The exact character of the object is uncertain. There is no reason to doubt that this object meets the 10% threshold required by the Treasure Act, or that it is more than 300 years old. As such it therefore qualifies as Treasure under the terms of the Act.
