An iron nail of Roman to Post-Medieval date. The object has a flat circular head. On the back face is an integrally cast stem. This is rectangular in section and tapers to a point. The nail measures 23.42mm in length, 14.82mm in width, 13.12mm thick, and 4.1g. The object is covered with iron corrosion and is reddish brown in colour.

A piece of copper-alloy morphologically similar to the shape of a flat axehead, possibly casting waste from a manufacturing process. The object is roughly pear shaped in silhouette, with a rough texture that appears to be partly from corrosion and partly from the natural grain of the metal.

A probable Roman copper alloy penanular finger ring in the form of a snake and dating from about AD 100-400. The hoop is sub-circular in plan and is probably smaller than originally intended having been coiled. The terminal expands to form the head of the snake, but does not appear to be complete. The other terminal is of similar form and possibly represent another head however could also be the tail. The object has been squashed inwards and is incomplete. It has a dark green patina. Examples of similar finger rings which can be found on the database are KENT-95BA94 and SWYOR-13E3D6.

Cast copper alloy cosmetic implement probably dating to the Roman period, (43-410AD). The object consists of a sheet of copper alloy which flares out at either end. The object is incomplete. The object has been bent almost in half and has some modern damage also. On the rear of the object is a shallow central groove running the length of the object. It has a mid-green patina and shows signs of corrosion.

Cast lead alloy spindle whorl dating from the Roman to the Post-Medieval period. The object is circular in plan and biconical. It has a large central circular perforation. The object is undecorated and has a dark brownish grey patina. Similar examples of spindle whorls have reportedly been found in contexts dated from the Roman through to the Post-Medieval period although the majority are typically dated broadly to the Medieval period c.1066-1500.

A large lead alloy harness boss dating to the Post-Medieval period, (1500-1700). The object is circular in plan, thick and flat. The object has foliate relief decoration surrounding a central roundel.Most of the outer edge of the object is missing. The remains of one iron rivet can be seen on the reverse of the object. The object has a dark grey patina. It is likely to dates from the eighteenth century. Similar examples which can be found on the database are SF6788 and SWYOR-937753. Similar examples can be seen in Bailey's "Detector Finds" (1999).

A cast copper alloy button dating to the Post-Medieval period. The object is circular in plan and biconical. The upper surface is decorated with a raised central pimple. At the rear of the object is an integral attachment loop the perforation of which measures 2.82mm in diameter. The button is decorated with six openwork cells on each face. Two sets of cells on the rear of the object have been damaged and now form one opening. The object has a mid brown patina and can be dated from the late 15th - 16th century. A similar example can be found in Bailey, (2004), p23, fig 7.1.

An incomplete cast copper alloy probable nut cracker dating to the Post-Medieval period. The object consists of one arm of a nut cracker. Each end terminates with a break. The top of the arm is circular in cross-section. The arm then flattens forming a D-shaped cross-section. Two ridges decorate the outer face of the object. The crushing box and opposite arm are missing. The object has a mid green patina.

A cast lead alloy uniface token of Post-Medieval date. The object is sub-circular in plan and is flat. The upper face is decorated with moulded cross-hatching while the lower face is undecorated. The object has a dark grey patina and has been crudely made. Lead tokens had a wide variety of potential uses such as use as tallies, gaming pieces, tickets, weights, etc. and are believed to have been locally produced; they are therefore difficult to date precisely. Those carrying initials are generally deemed to be Post Medieval in date (1500-1850 AD), those which seem to mimic Medieval …

A fragment of a copper alloy bell of Post-Medieval date. The fragment is from the rim of a clapper bell. The object is curved in plan and would have been conical when complete. Circumferential striations are visible on the outer face of the object. The base is slightly rounded with each other edge terminating with a break. The breaks although slightly worn do not appear ancient. The object has a mid-green patina with the remains of tinning in places.

Cast copper alloy mount. The object consists of a lozenge-shaped body, each end of which expands to form a stylised fleur-de-lis. This is formed at each end from an oval pierced with two circular holes; projecting from the centre of each oval is a triangular knop which terminates with a rounded point. The central lozenge is decorated with a single incised groove which borders the object. On the hollowed reverse of the object are two sub-rectangular spikes for attachment. The object has a dark brown patina and is in good condition. Compare CORN-169AA4, which is dated to the 17th century.
