A copper alloy single looped buckle of medieval date. The object is D-shaped in plan and cross-section. The buckle frame is undecorated. The pin remains attached to the strap bar and is mobile. The pin consists of a strip of copper alloy which loops over the strap bar. It tapers in width to a point and measures 18mm in length. The object has a brownish-green patina. Dimensions: 15mm in length, 22mm in width, 1.3g. A similar example can be found in Whitehead (2003), p18, no.40.

An incomplete copper alloy double looped trapezoidal buckle of post-medieval date. The pin is missing and only one half of the frame survives.The surviving end of the buckle frame is trefoil shaped and each end of the strap bar has a lobed protrusion. The object has a mid-green patina. Dimensions: 17mm in lenght, 20mm in width, 2.0g A similar example can be found in Whitehead, (2003), p84, no.523 which has been dated to c.1620-1680.

An incomplete copper alloy double looped buckle of medieval to post-medieval date. Only one half of the buckle frame survives. The object has an oval frame which is D-shaped in cross-section. At each end of the strap bar is a decorative knop. The buckle frame has been twisted, possibly due to damage from the plough. The object has a mid-greenish-brown patina. Dimensions: 21mm in length, 25mm in width, 2.6g Similar examples can be found in Whitehead (2003), p53.

An incomplete copper alloy double looped buckle of medieval to post-medieval date. The object has an oval frame which is D-shaped in cross-section. At each end of the strap bar is a decorative knop. A lump of iron corrosion remains attached to the strap bar. This suggests that the missing pin may have been iron. The outer frame is decorated with worn ridges and traces of black lacquer can be seen. Dimensions: 35mm in length, 29mm in width, 2mm thick, 4.8g Similar examples can be found in Whitehead (2003), p53.

An incomplete copper alloy possible buckle of uncertain date. The object consists of one end of the frame, the remaining sides having been lost during antiquity, and is D-shaped in cross-section. One end of the remaining frame is decorated with a raised sub-rectangular knop; this is broken on the inner face. In the centre of the object are four raised transverse collars, which are grouped in twos with a slightly larger gap in the centre. This may have been where the buckle pin would have rested. A copper alloy single looped buckle of medieval date. The buckle has an oval frame and an integral, forked spacer. The buckle frame is lipped however there is no notch for the pin to rest on. The pin is missing and one fork is incomplete. The object has a mid-green patina and file marks are visible on the rear. Dimensions: 37mm in length, 25mm in width, 3mm thick, 3.5g. Similar examples of buckles with composite plates can be found in Whitehead, (2003), p36 which have been dated c.1350-1450.

Two copper alloy double looped buckles of post-medieval date. Each buckle is trapezoidal in plan and the frame is drilled for a separate spindle. The corroded iron spindle remains fused to one buckle while the spindle is missing on the second buckle. Each pin is missing. The buckle without a spindle is decorated with seven grooves at each end of the frame and two grooves on each side either side of the hole for the spindle. The rear is undecorated. Medieval copper alloy single loop sub rectangular buckle with integral buckle plate. The frame is an outwardly flaring trapezoid in plan. The integral plate's outer edge has two parallel borders and what appears to be a saltire in the central rectangle. The single attaching rivet is also retained in this rectangle. The pin is still present. The buckle may have been from a spur strap. Dates from c1250 to c1400 AD. The length is 39mm, width 24mm, and the weight 7.7g. Shares similarities with IOW-B6FFC8, IOW-BFAED2, DENO-AEC502, LVPL-EEFF43, NARC-5BC433, SF-90DED8, and NMS-FF2CE4.

Either end of the strap bar is a decorative rounded knop. The pin is missing. There is no visible decoration on the buckle frame. It has a dark green patina which is pitted with corrosion in places. Similar examples can be found in Whitehead, (2003), p19, which have been dated from c.1250-1500.

A fragment of a cast copper alloy buckle dating to the Post-Medieval period. The object is rectangular in cross-section and curved. It would have formed part of an oval buckle frame. The upper face is decorated with three large lozenges which are divided by crossed grooves to contain four smaller lozenges. The patina on the rear of the object and lozenges is mid-brown.

The front edge of the buckle is expanded and decorated with three transverse grooves in the centre and one at each edge. The strap bar is narrowed and offset. The rear of the object is undecorated. It has a mid-green patina. A similar example can be found in Whitehead, (2003), p27, np.135. The object can be dated from c.1250-1400.
