Treasure Case 2022 T851 Description:  A complete silver gilded eye piece from a hook and eye fastener dating to the post medieval period (c.AD 1500-1700). The body of the piece is broadly heart shaped, with sewing loops either side of the point of the loop and a larger loop at the top of the heart. The large hoop is where the hook from the other part of the fastener would have previously been attached. The outer edges which form the shape of the heart consist of foliate branches.  The central design of the piece is reminiscent of an urn with a flat top and rounded body.…

A copper alloy strap-end probably of Thomas's Class A, type 1. The strap-end is made from a piece of copper alloy a maximum of 3mm thick, with a split at the attachment end. The attachment end is incomplete and worn. Worn decoration is visible on the outer face of the object within a rectangular panel and is highlighted by areas of silvering however the exact design cannot be determined. The object tapers in width before terminating with a rounded zoomorphic snout. The rear of the object is flat and undecorated however a fragment of silvering is visible. Dimensions: 37mm in length…

The coin is a silver gros tournois of Philip IV, King of France (1285-1307), a relatively large silver coin for the period. The utilisation of French gros tournois as brooches in this manner is familiar in England at this time, and there have been many finds of similar nature. An almost complete copper-alloy Anglo-Saxon wrist clasp of Hines form 18d. The object consists of a rectangular bar with flattened row of four conjoined projections that give it a castellated appearance. It is slightly curved in profile. Treasure Case: 2016 T942: An incomplete silver thimble of post-medieval date. The thimble has regular pits and a domed crown. The centre of the crown is un-pitted as is a horizontal band running around the centre transacted by three vertical bands to form three crosses. In the centre of each cross is a sexfoil, possibly representing a flower or sunshine. There is no visible maker's mark however the rim is broken on one side. A complete cast copper alloy (bronze) short flanged axe of Middle Bronze Age dating, probably of the Acton Park I metalwork assemblage and dating from c.1700 to c. 1500BC. The axe has a shield shaped pattern below a very slight stop ridge, and raised flange facets. The blade of the object expands outwards to a crescentic cutting edge. The cutting edge measures 1mm thick. In profile the blade is sub-triangular with the widest section being before the stop ridge.
