A complete iron Shot/Cannonball of probable Post-Medieval date (AD 1600-1700). The object is sub-spherical in shape slightly flattened on two opposite faces. The surface is heavily pitted and corroded with much of the adhering iron corrosion having been removed following its discovery.
The size is small either suggesting it was used as grape shot or that it was for a small hand-held cannon (possibly a rabinet (1inch bore). A similar example which can be found on the PAS database is NARC-49A3CE.

Object type: NAIL
Broad period: POST MEDIEVAL
County: Flintshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
Three iron and one copper alloy nails found in close proximity. The nails have a rectangular sectioned shank and a wedge shaped point. The head is sub-rectangular and flat.
Nails are difficult to date and in this case the condition of the nails indicates a probable post-medieval to modern in date. The iron nails are covered with iron corrosion and are reddish brown in colour. The copper alloy nail has a mid-green patina.

Object type: AGRICULTURE AND SUBSISTENCE
Broad period: UNKNOWN
County: Flintshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
Cast iron agricultural tool, probably a billhook of uncertain date. The object has a long rectangular-sectioned handle and a wide curved hook. The end of the hook is rounded. The object is covered in an orange-brown corrosion which obscures any details. Billhooks were used from the Bronze Age to the present day with little change to the form of the object. It is therefore very difficult to date however the corrosion indicates that it is pre 1700s.

Object type: BROOCH
Broad period: ROMAN
County: Flintshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
An incomplete cast iron brooch dating to the Roman period, (45-410AD). The brooch is highly corroded and therefore not much detail can be seen. The head is damaged and the bow arches outwards. It is curved in profile. The bow is wide and rectangular in cross-section. It tapers towards the foot which appears to have a rounded knop, however it may just be corrosion. The object is in poor condition. Two other iron brooches which have been recorded on the database have also come from this site, LVPL-104105 and LVPL-102345.

Object type: BROOCH
Broad period: ROMAN

Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
Cast iron brooch dating to the Roman period, (45-410AD). The brooch is highly corroded and therefore not much detail can be seen. The head of the brooch is flat and the bow arches outwards towards the foot. From this arch we can assume that the brooch is of dolphin type, however due to the corrosion this is not certain. The object narrows towards the foot. The catchplate is high and wide. The pin is missing. It is in very poor condition.

Cast iron brooch dating to the Roman period, (45-410AD). The brooch is highly corroded and therefore not much detail can be seen. The head appears to be flat and the bow arches outwards. It is curved in profile. Due to its arched bow it is possible that the brooch is a dolphin type of brooch which dates from 43-65AD. However it is also possible that the corrosion is distorting the shape causing it to appear more curved than it is. It is in very poor condition.
