Fragment of a Roman greyware vessel. The fragment is a rim-sherd of a vessel dating to the Roman period. It is sub-rectangular in plan and rectangular in cross-section. It has a slight curve in profile. The inner fabric is a light brownish grey. The outer fabric is grey. There are no visible inclusions. Greyware was most common in the 1st and 2nd centuries AD, but in some places, continued in use until the 4th century.

Fragment of pottery dating from the Medieval to Post-Medieval period. It is triangular in plan and rectangular in cross-section. The fragment has been wheel-turned during construction. One face has a smooth light brown patina. The other face has been covered with a toffee-brown glaze. The internal fabric is mid-brown with no inclusions.

Small fragment of green glaze pottery dating to the Medieval period. It is sub-rectangular in plan and rectangular in section. The internal fabric is slightly pitted and has a mid-grey patina which lightens towards the upper surface. There are no visible inclusions. The inner face of the fragment has a dark grey patina. The outer face of the object has a greyish white patina which is covered with the remains of a green glaze.

Fragment of calcite-gritted ware dating to the Roman period. It is sub-triangular in plan and rectangular in section. The internal fabric has a light brown patina and a large amount of small white inclusions and small pebbles. The outer surface had a blackish patina and frequent small white inclusions. The function is uncertain.

Fragment of pottery possibly dating to the Medieval period. It is sub-rectangular in plan and sub-hexagonal in section. One end of the object is both wider and longer than the other and flares into four corners. The object tapers the object tapers slightly at the other end where it has been broken. A groove runs the length of one side of the object, and a slightly shallower groove runs parallel beside it. The internal fabric has a smooth light orange patina. There are few visible inclusions. The remains of green glaze can be seen on the outer surface, particularly in the grooves. I…

Fragment of the base of greyware pottery dating to the Roman period, (43-410AD). It is sub-rectangular in plan. The outer edge is curved. The upper surface is a smooth pinkish grey. The lower surface is worn and pitted, and light grey in colour. The internal fabric is a darker grey. There is no evidence of glazing.

Fragment of medieval pot, possibly the base of a jug. It is sub rectangular in section. The outer edge is curved. The base has a pinkish orange colour while the top surface is grey with the remains of a reduced green glaze. The fabric is quite sandy.
