A complete silver thimble of post-medieval date. The thimble has irregular pits which run down the sides in straight rows; each pit is divided from the next by vertical and horizontal incised lines forming a square grid like effect. The crown of the thimble is domed and has a central pit surrounded by two circumferential grooves. This is surrounded by circles of pits which are again divided into a grid-like formation with the squares instead forming a trapezoidal shape corresponding to the widening dome. A copper alloy book clasp dating to the Post-Medieval period. The object comprises of an upper plate, incomplete hook and a lower plate. The clasp is rectangular in plan with parallel sides. At one end the outer edge slightly flares to a serrated edge. Below this outer edge are three circular rivet holes. The book clasp then extends with parallel sides to a terminal with a flat edge that in the centre has an integral hook that has been folded towards the reverse of the clasp. A post-medieval/modern gun-flint from a flintlock musket. The flint is rectangular in plan and cross-section with sloping edges to give it a trapezoidal side view. The flint is mid-grey in colour. The flintlock was introduced in the middle of the 16th century but it was not until the reign of William III that the flintlock became the main regulation firearm for the British Army. An incomplete clay pipe of Post Medieval date. The object consists of the bowl of a clay pipe and a fragment of the stem. The mouth of the bowl is decorated with a series of moulded ridges. There is a small round spur at the base of the bowl measuring 5.89mm in diameter. The pipe bowl is incomplete and has a skull and crossbones motif on each side and part of a motto underneath. The motto would originally have read either 'DEATH OR GLORY' or 'DEATH & GLORY' (both versions occur and it's not clear which has been used here). An incomplete silver-gilt dress-hook . The object is lozenge shaped in plan. It consists of a cast back-plate with a large trefoil knop on each apex and a smaller version in the centre of each side. The trefoil knop from the centre of one side is missing due to a recent break. Either side of each central trefoil knop is a single rounded knop; some of these have a faceted outer face while some have been worn down. A post-medieval gilded lead-alloy contemporary copy of a Spanish 4 reales of Philip II (1556-1598) or Philip III (1598-1621). The addition of the Hapsburg heraldry to the Spanish shield dates the 'coin' to after 1570. It is unclear whether this coin copies a Spanish-minted variety or one minted in the New World, although it may be copying the slightly squashed shape of the 'cob' coins minted in South America. An incomplete silver dress fastener. Cast as a single component, the body is sub-traingular in plan and on one end projects a rounded attachment loop. Extra casting material is added in the shape of an X on one side to reinforce the narrowing of the fastener between the body and the attachment loop.
