A copper alloy button of post-medieval date. The object is circular in plan. The button immitates a coin depicting Nero surrouned by the legend []NERO CAESAR AVG P M []. The button has a mid brown patina and is c.18th or 19th century in date. A similar example which can be found on the database includes BERK-290012.

A copper alloy button dating to the Post-Medieval period. The object is circular in plan and bi-conical. The upper surface is decorated with a raised central pimple and radiate lines. At the rear of the object is an incomplete integral attachment loop. Dimension: 12mm in diameter, 8mm in length, 2.1g The object has a brownish green patina and is in poor condition. Similar examples can be found in Bailey, (2004), p25. It can be dated from the late 15th - 16th century.

A Post Medieval lead-alloy button, dating late 16th-17th century. The button is convex with flat back and decorated with worn moulding and a central pellet. Four moulded lines radiate out from the central pellet to the button's edge. Between each moulded line the button is decorated with worn cross-hatching. The button has an integral looped shank now slightly bent and pierced for attachment. A casting seam is visible on the back of the button. The object has a mid-grey patina. Dimensions: 16mm in length, 17mm in width, 8.6g.

A silvered copper alloy tombac button of post-medieval date. The object is circular in plan and is domed. The back of the button and the loop is missing revealing the copper alloy concave rear. The buckle is decorated with an engraved seven pointed star with a central boss. Between each point of the star are 6 grooves. Dimensions: 15mm in diameter, 5.5mm thick, 1.7g. Similar examples can be found in Bailey, (2004) p 54 which have been dated to the 18th century.

Treasure Case: 2016 T745 A silver composite button dating to the Post-Medieval period. The object is hemispherical with a domed top which has been soldered onto a convex back-plate where there are two blow-holes.
