A silver cut quarter long cross penny of Edward I - Edward III (AD 1272-1377). Reverse: [ ]; long cross dividing legend, three pellets in each quarter. The coin is worn with no visible legend and therefore cannot be attributed to a specific ruler. Although neatly cut along one edge the opposite edge appears to have been torn rather than cut and as such this may in fact be a cut half-penny which has been damaged by the plough rather than deliberately cut in quarter. Dimensions: 13mm in length, 9mm in width, 0.35g.
