A Roman silver denarius, probably a silver-plated contemporary copy, of Septimius Severus (AD 193-211), prototype dating to AD 198-200 (Reece Period 10), VICTORIAE AVGG FEL, Victory flying left, holding wreath. Prototype Mint of Rome. RIC IV, pt 1, p. 109, cf. no.. 144b. The surface of the coin has a soapy and pitted appearance; there appears to be a copper alloy core.
