A copper-alloy English 'Enthroned King' jetton, c.14th century AD. The jetton is not listed in Mitchiner (1988), but the obverse type finds parallels in his nos. 283-284 (Mitchiner, 1988: p. 124) and the reverse type and legend in examples recorded through the PAS (e.g. HAMP-C9F7A2, PUBLIC-788D27, SUSS-6A9197, SUSS-9357CD; see also an identical jetton: http://www.coincommunity.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=189473 ). The legend appears to be derived from AMOR VINCIT OMNIA (Love conquers all) that appears on jettons, coins and other items during the Medieval period, although the ending '…
