Broad period: ROMAN
County: Kent
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
A complete pair of hand made copper-alloy tweezers, probably of Roman dating (AD 43 to AD 410) but possibly Medieval dating (AD 1000 to AD 1500). The tweezers are formed from one strip of copper alloy, with a loop at the top and rectangular blade ends. Both ends are complete. The tweezers are decorated with a line of punched dots around the outer edge of both blades. Similar examples can be seen in the database: WMID-8F1B75 and WILT-AF0272. As tweezers are a functional item, their form has remained relatively consistent from the Roman period through to the Medieval.
