A cast lead (alloy?) disc shaped object which may be a weight, token or gaming piece. The front of the object features a concentric rib within the disc, and a raised border around the circumference. The inner rib stands in slight relief of the border when the object is viewed in profile. There is a raised pellet in the centre of the front of the disc, and two āYā shaped designs with internal pellets, also raised, joining the inner rib with the central pellet. There is also a further rib, in low relief, between the inner rib and the border. The reverse of the disc is plain, although…

An incomplete cast lead weight (probably). Extant external diameter: 31.2mm; internal diameter: 9.2mm; thickness: 11.2mm; mass: 20.6g. The object has a perforated sub-biconical central portion, attached to an incomplete outer ring by a series of ribs which radiate outwards. The object has a pitted brown/grey surface.
The radiating ribs and outer ring are unusual, but the biconical shape with a central circular perforation is a recognised form for cast lead weights. A similar but more complete object is recorded on the PAS database (CPAT-39D310).
Perfortated biconical lead weigh…

An incomplete cast lead trade weight. The weight is sub-circular in plan, with a broadly flat top and a convex base. The circumference is incomplete, with some damage evident, and a āVā shaped notch one area. Both sides of the weight have designs stamped or cast within them. The design on the flatter side appears to be a cross with a trapezoidal design at the terminal of the longest arm. The convex base is stamped with the letters NI or IN within an incomplete rectangle of pellets; the edge nearest to the circumference of the weight has not been stamped due to the curved profi…

A lead shield shaped weight, probably from the medieval period. The weight is shield shaped in plan, with a gently curved upper edge and convex sides which converge to a point at the base. The front of the weight is decorated, in relief, with a crown above a fleur-de-lys; Biggs and Withers identify the crowned-lis as a standard type of shield shaped weight based on a review of the David Rogers collection (2000, p35). The underside of the weight is flat and undecorated. The sides of the weight taper slightly from the underside to the decorated topside. The weight is a maximum of 38.…

Each pellet is in heavy relief, protruding from the rest of the design when the object is viewed in profile. The reverse is broadly flat, with edges which curve towards the front. There are some indentations and striations on the reverse, but no designs have been identified.

A complete cast lead weight, possibly post-medieval in date. The weight is broadly circular in plan, witha a rather uneven/incomplete rib towards the base of the weight around the circumference. The front of the weight is broadly flat with a series of concentric, pennanular grooves. The reverse is also broadly flat but undecorated, although there are a series of groves and depressions. These do not appear to be recent as they are covered by the same cream/light brown coloured matt surface as the rest of the weight. There has been some loss of material from a portion of the edge of the…

An unidentified lead/tin alloy object, possibly a vessel dating from the medieval or post-medieval periods. Length: 22.3mm; width: 20.1mm; thickness: 3.0mm; mass: 4.5g. The letters A and B within a zig-zag border are stamped on the slightly concave front of the object. The reverse is slightly convex (from side to side). The edges are incomplete and have a slightly laminated appearance. The style of the lettering suggests that the object is medieval or early postmedieval in date.
