A Post Medieval copper-alloy oval clothing fastener with four attachment apertures. The face of the fastener features what appears to be a winged creature surrounded by a twisted ropework decoration. There are three small circular apetures or sewing holes for attachment; one at one end and two at each side of the other end. The fourth apeture is rectangular in form; a clasp or hook would have hooked into the apeture to bring two parts of clothing together and hold them fast (in the same way a modern hook and eye works).

The clasp consists of a rectangular plate with one flared end, the other terminates in a rectangular projection curved backwards to form a hook. The clasp has three rivet holes positioned along the logitudinal median line with the upper two at least surrounded by concentric circles. A corroded copper-alloy hooked mount of post-medieval date. The mount is sub-trapezoidal with a cusped upper edge. It tapers towards the hook; at the junction of plate and hook there is a transversely engraved line on the front of the mount. The recurving hook is intact. The mount is broadly flat with slight bevelling on its upper surface. It features two iron rivets, one towards the upper edge, the other towards the base of the plate.
