Incomplete cast copper alloy Late Iron Age to early Roman mortar - the lower part of a pestle & mortar set, sometimes referred to as woad or cosmetic grinders. The item is crescent shaped with a a domed based and a shallow oval groove recessed in to the top and a cast-in broken loop at one end. The item is quite corroded but where the patina remains it is of a deep dark green colour. Cast copper alloy seal matrix dating to the Medieval period (c.1300-c.1400). The matrix is pointed oval (vesica) in shape with a central raised mid rib on the reverse with pierced semi-circular lug at one end for suspension. The face of the seal is decorated with a central fleur de lis surrounded by an inscription. The inscription is difficult to decipher in full due to general wear and corrosion of the outer surface. The inscription in its current state appears to read “SIGILLA DE ?CV D ESIV”.

Cast lead alloy Medieval ampulla. The main body of the flask is circular with the sub-rectangular neck, surmounting this, now damaged and split. Both sides of the circular body are decorated with raised designs. One face shows a three-srched crown within a roundel comprising of two circles with a series of pellets between. The other side of the body is decorated with an unclear design which incorporates a cross hatched semi circle surmounted by a possible fleur de lis. Dated c.1200-1500.

Incomplete cast copper-alloy Medieval mirror case lid. The lid is circular and roughly two-thirds of it still remain. The lid has a circumferential lip that is c.1.5mm wide and 1.5mm high. A single semi-circular lug projects from one side of the lid, a corroded rivet is still in place through the centre of this lug which would have formed part of the hinge mechanism. Almost complete cast copper-alloy Medieval mirror case lid. The lid is circular and almost complete. The lid has a very slight circumferential lip. A single semi-circular lug projects from one side of the lid, which would have formed part of the clasp closure and on the opposite side one semi-circular lug remains of the original two which would have formed part of the hinge mechanism. A large size cast copper alloy crotal bell. The bell is divided into two hemispheres with a prominent ridge which runs around the centre of the bell. Incomplete clay pipe for smoking tobacco datable to the 17th Century. The bowl and a short length of the stem remain. Clay pipe bowls increase in size over time as tobacco ceased to be considered as much of a luxury and therefore decreased in price meaning that larger amounts were smoked. Incomplete cast copper alloy gilded Anglo-Saxon saucer brooch. The item has a plain flared rim and a central rosette surrounded by a relief design referred to as 'devolved guilloche' which is essentially a series of stylised interwoven bands or ribbons represented by angular blocks flowing in an anti-clockwise direction.
