Near complete flint barbed and tanged arrowhead dating from the Middle Bronze Age. The flint is a semi-opaque amber-brown colour. The arrowhead is an elongated pointed oval in section and is a straight-sided triangle in plan. The tang is broad with narrower barbs to either side one of which is mostly missing - It is not possible to determine the original length of these barbs in relation to the tang. The arrowhead is worked on both faces with covering, scaled, low-angle retouch. According to Green's 1980 classification system this example most closely represents an arrowhead of Conyga…

Incomplete copper-alloy dagger of Bronze Age date. The blade is triangular in plan and a very narrow lozenge-shape in section with a faint mid-rib running down the centre of both faces of the blade but ending at the point where the tang starts. The pointed tip of the dagger is missing and all of the blade edges are heavily worn and damaged. The damaged lower edges of four circular rivet holes (for attachment to a handle) can be seen arranged in a slight arc across the point at which the dagger is broken and where the blade is flared outwards to either side. The dagger is a mid-green …

An incomplete cast copper-alloy palstave axehead, dating to the Middle Bronze Age between 1500 - 1150 BC. Only a heavily worn and corroded section of the blade tip and body of the axe survive. The axe is sub-rectangular in plan with the sides flaring outwards slightly towards either side of the cutting edge, although the full extent of this flaring, which is a typical characteristic of palstave axes, has been lost through wear and damage. The bottom cutting edge of the axe is rounded but the cutting edge has also been lost through wear. In section the palstave is V-shaped with th…

The surviving fragment is the tip of the blade although the point and edges have now been lost through post-depositional damage. No further decoration has been noted. Due to the incomplete nature of the blade it is not possible to be certain whether the item is a sword, dagger, rapier or some other related weapon. It …

The tip (cutting edge) of a Late Bronze Age socketed axehead dating from c.1000 - 700 BC. The cutting edge, which is worn and rounded, is wider than the rest of the axe with the sides curved slightly inwards and the tip appearing flared. The casting seams are not visible on the edges, but the axe appears very worn with notable loss of patina and signs of bronze disease on one face. Due to the incomplete nature of the axe and the poor state of preservation it has not been possible to identify it any further at this time.

Near complete cast copper alloy Bronze Age palstave of the late Penard/early Wilburton metalwork phase. The axe is of side looped type with prominent stop ridges. It is complete except for the tip of the butt and slight damage to the blade edge. The casting seams have been removed and smoothed down and there are transverse file marks across both faces of the blade edge which might indicate that the axe has been re-sharpened. An incomplete cast copper-alloy developed flat axehead of Middle Bronze Age date. Probable Arreton Park type (c.2000 BC -c.1700 BC ) which corresponds to Early Bronze Age III, or metalworking stage V, which corresponds to Needham's (1996) Period 3 circa 2000 - 1700 BC. The reasons for this classification are that the axe does not appear to have a stopper ridge or side loops, is not as flat as some earlier types and the blade terminates in a broad, crescentic curved cutting edge. The bevelling to create the cutting edge is shallow, beginning just below the line of the flange termina…
