An incomplete Roman vessel..This is the complete base from a much larger wheel thrown vessel. It is made of a hard, brittle, orange fabric and has numerous gritty inclusions of varying sizes in it. The upper edge shows damage where the main body of the vessel is lost.The outer surface is pitted with small voids left by the loss of organic material during firing,. Dating from the late Roman period 200AD - 400AD. Diameter (base) 58.2mm, height 43.3mm, thickness (at break) 7.6mm, weight 114.1g.

Vessel; fragment of cast copper alloy vessel of uncertain date. The fragment is from the rim of a thin-walled vessel. It has a finished edge at the top and the cross-section indicates a slightly wider ‘lip’ at the rim, before it narrows further down. The curvature of the vessel is unclear as the fragment seems to have become straightened at one end. The other edges are rough and broken, giving a roughly triangular shape to the fragment.
