Object type: THIMBLE
Broad period: POST MEDIEVAL
County: Somerset
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
A stamped and hammered sheet copper alloy thimble of probable post-medieval date. The process of stamping and hammering has caused the side of the thimble to become folded over itself in one place. The thimble is 21.18mm high and the open end has a diameter of about 19.50mm. It weighs 5.39g. The hand-punched indentations are in the form of a spiral, and there is a small notch cut into the rim.
