An incompete copper alloy Roman bow-and-fantail brooch of the 1st-2nd centuries AD. the brooch has a sprung pin which is broken near the coil and missing. The spring has 5 coils. The catchplate is in tact and rear facing with a folded pin rest. the wings are short (14.97mm wide) and semi-circular in section. An incomplete Roman T-shape brooch, dating from the 1st-2nd century AD. The pin is hinged with a single pierced lug, it is nor clear whether the axis bar is made from iron or copper alloy. The pin itself is badly corroded and fragmentary. It is held by a rearward facing catchplate which is also in a fragmentary condtion, although the pin rest seems to be folded. The wings are cylindrical in section and fairly long (29.19mm) compared to their diameter (3.99mm). Cast copper alloy end cap from a knife of probable 16th century date. It has a trefoil terminal end with faint traces of gilding and an attachment end with oval cross-section. The attachment end has a single incised groove around the circumference and a longitudinal slot which contains the remains of an iron tang. It measures 18.55mm long, 17.18mm wide and 9.68mm thick.

A copper alloy medieval (13th century) seal matrix, very worn and almost illegible. It is trapezoidal in shape. The obverse has lettering running down two sides at the top, which is illegible. The apex may contain a small cross or possibly a sword from which three incised lines descend the seal; two down either side, underlining the lettering; and one down the centre descending towards a very worn animal motif, possibly a sacrificial lamb. A post-medieval copper alloy spoon bowl and part of the handle. The bowl is teardrop in shape, tapering towards the handle. The bowl measures 59.97mm long and is up to 44.19mm wide at the broadest end. The depth of the bowl from the join of the handle is 22.86mm. The bowl is complete, although rusted around the edges, and retains vestiges of silvering or tinning on both surfaces. The handle has a flattened oval cross section measuring 1.91mm thick and 4.11mm wide at the break (which is rusted). The surviving length of handle measures 22.24mm.

A copper alloy bowl from a post-medieval spoon with handle missing. The bowl is roughly cut into an approximately oval shape and has no evidence for surface treatment. The handle end is distinguished by a rivet hole by which the handle would have been attached. The bowl has been partially flattened resulting in a crack in one side and further dents around the rim. It measures 62.32mm long and has a maximum width of 43.87mm.

Two conjoining parts of a copper alloy spoon bowl with the handle missing. The bowl is approximately oval in shape, slightly tapered at the handle end where there is a maker's mark on the upper surface in the form of a punched Fleur de Lys. There is no evidence of any other surface treatment. The individual fragments measure 34.12mm x 43.91mm and 28.71mm x 43.37mm. The total size of the bowl when the pieces are joined is 57.77mm long and 43.91mm wide. Small copper alloy buckle with flat double oval frame, central bar, and missing pin. the back of the buckle is flat and the loops have an approximately semi-circular cross section. Similar forms from London have been dated to 1350-1450 AD (Egan & Pritchard, 1991, 82-3). The central bar is 20.62mm long and 2.49mm wide; the loops flare out slighty to a maximum width of 21.16mm; and the buckle is 27.01mm long in total.

A small copper alloy buckle with decorative single loop frame. The pin is missing, and the frame is bent, probably through impact with a sharp object such as a spade or plough. The frame has a decorative lip in the form of a rosette comprising a central circular boss surrounded by five more. The bar is slightly narrowed and protrudes a little from the junction with the loop. The frame also has two backward projecting knops at either end of the bar. The buckle measures 22,52mm long with the knops projecting back a further 6.62mm; and it is 23.43mm wide.

A Roman Copper alloy key with fleur de lys style openwork handle and corroded iron bit. The copper alloy handle, in excellent condition, has a light grey sheen and may be leaded bronze. The fleur de lys openwork handle has a larger central lobe, 35.49mm high, topped by an integral globular knop with an incised groove around its circumference. Bent into shape from a single piece of faceted copper with terminals bent straight outwards, and with rounded knobs at the end, each containing an incised line around their circumference. Hattatt's type B2. The ring has an accentuated thickness away from the terminals and a trapezoidal cross section. 38.55mm diameter and 5.48mm maximum thickness of ring, the terminals are 14.08mm and 13.72mm long.

The frame has a decorative lip in the form of a rosette comprising a central circular boss surrounded by six more. The plate measures 13.68mm wide and 28.15mm long up to the point at which it is broken. At this point there is the remains of a small circular hole. Part of a long front plate for a post-medieval copper-alloy book clasp with incised decoration. A plain back plate would originally have been attached by three iron rivets, the remains of which are still visible. The plate is 91.97mm long with concave sides, ranging in width from up to 20.17mm, at the broad end, to 15.60mm in the middle. The external surface of the plate is engraved with a zig-zag pattern perpendicular to the main axis of the plate at the clasp end, and a series of 17 horizontal parallel lines graded in length with the shortest in the middle to give a chevron effect. …

Four pottery sherds of medieval date. The sherds include one everted rim sherd, one base angle sherd and two body sherds. The fabric is fairly course and sandy with moderate sub-rounded to angular flint and quartz pieces (up to 5mm). Three of the sherds have buff to orange oxidised surfaces and reduced grey cores. The other sherd is oxidised all the way through, with the exception of the internal surface, which is reduced. The sherds probably come from cooking pots of 11th to 13th century date. A copper alloy pointed-oval medieval seal matrix. The central motif is of a bird of prey standing and facing left (right on the impression). The bird has a hooked beak and ruff of display feathers. This central portion is defined by a double grooved border. Around this is the inscription, which reads + S'. CLARICIE. LE OSTRICERE. The initial mark at the apex of the seal is a cross. Two small abraded sherds of late medieval sand tempered coarse ware pottery. Both have light orange oxidsed surfaces and margins, and a buff coloured core. The faintest trace of glaze survives on the external surfaces. One sherd has a well formed dark green lead glaze over grey slip, the other has amber glaze, not visible to the naked eye, over a buff wiped surface. The fabric is tempered with abundant well sorted and rounded quartz grains less than 0.1mm in diameter, and occasional small iron oxide.
